Why would GM or Chrysler want to have less dealers to sell their product?

GM & Chrysler does not sell us their cars.
The independent dealer sells their product. These dealers are the automakers ONLY customer; without them they cannot sell cars.
How does shutting them out solve the automakers problem.
The dealer is the only source of income for the automakers not a liability. Add in the lost parts sales and warranty service the dealer provides and closing dealers makes as much sense as closing grocery stores to help improve Kraft Food’s bottom line.

They need the cash and they will not qualify if they don’t do what the feds tell them to do..
They now are basically federally owned corporations and can not do what they want. We are on the road to where the feds own all the big corps & banks, not oficially but practically so if they want $$$ they obey ..

The market is over saturated with dealers yes dealers dont have not met gms training standards or have not being pushed out of customer satisfaction ratings and the highest customer satisfaction ratings and those dealers gm makes but there is.
