What does it mean for America that Chrysler is going bankrupt, selling to Fiat?

I like America, I wish it had made smart cars that were gas guzzelers and then screw up like it did when the harder times hit. I hope the other motor companies manage to fix their outlook to make cars that have some of the focus on mileage and slimmer design so they can stay on in the competition… What do you think it means for America that Chrysler will be sold to Fiat? Are we going to lose a piece of our foothold as the greatest nation?
