How do you get headphones to work in 06 Chrysler town-country?

We have a 06 chrysler town and country lmtd. and we are trying to get headphones to work for dvd system we turn the headphones sign on on the remote and it appears on the radio but no sound will come out of headphones and yes they are on and we tried 2 new sets of batteries. We are really confused owners manual does not give much info on this if anyone knows could you please tell me.

The wrong headphones it an aftermarket system.
The dealer you might have them show you how to the dealer you sound like youve done everything right is it from and have them show you how to the dealer you might have.
