Al asked:

I have a 2006 Chrysler van that uses a wireless entry key. Can a common key without the wireless feature be made that will start the car? after opening the door? I have been told that the key part that enters the ignition has a built-in code that has to match the lock to start the car.

What you may be able to get made is a grey-head “SKIM” key. This type of key will unlock the door and can be programmed to start the car. It does not have the buttons to unlock the door. It generally costs about $50-70 plus whatever the dealer costs to program it. Prices vary so check around. Good luck.
